I just completed rebuliding the top end of my 2003 roadking . I installed 10.5/1 KB pistons, 95 inch screaming eagle heads, ported and polished HD heads with new valves,guides and new stock springs, and andrews 37b cams. The engine is not running right, the back cylinder sounds like it is running properly , but the front cylinder sounds like it is running real fast, and making a pecking sound from the exhaust.I did the work myself, I followed the procedures in the service manual .What is the most likely cause for this??? You might try checking to see if you have a intake leak.

Cam timing? Have you done a compression test?

is it idling right ? is it ROUGH when you advance throttle ? both cylinders same temp ?noises can be VERY deceiving......might be something as simple as an exaust leak......spray soapy water over exaust flange......if you get bubbles you gotta exaust leak.......always check the SIMPLE STUFF first......If no exaust leak, i certainly agree about a compression check etc being done....
