90 FXSTC vapor locking
I noticed when a would check my gas before a ride you would here the air release from the right hand cap (vented one). My buddy told me that it was going bad and should replace it before our upcoming ride. I replaced them with a set of custom chrome vented caps. On my next ride the bike started vapor locking, it would die completing out. All i had to do was crack the gas cap open and it would start right back up. I stoppped and bought a new HD gas cap for the right side. Bike rode fine the rest of the way home, but still is not venting. When I check the gas on the right side you still here it release the air. Is that normal or what do i need to check. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for your help.

On the bottom of the tank there is a crossover tube and another spout that appears to be a vent breather with nothing attached ( plugged or something ). Should this be open or is it designed like that. Thanks for the help.
