Default Ceramic insulation for repacking a muffler

I bought a set of Full Boar slash tips with 2" baffles last year and with decatting the pipe and recamming the motor I think I beat the packing to smithereens. The bike is pretty loud now and upon pulling the right baffle the wrap is broken down. I like the pipes so I ordered the 1ž" baffle but I also want to try to repack the 2". I'm looking at using Ceramic Fiber Insulation Blanket to repack and was wondering if anyone has tried it and if they had any success with it?

I always used "standard" ( never heard or thought of "high tech" wrap ) and usually get a couple of years out of the packing. FWIW I have Rush mufflers on one of my scooters and they offer "free replacement' packing to their mufflers. :>)

Not that hard to get ie; Amazon, Ebay, etc and pretty affordable.
I was even thinking of doing an outer wrap with some stainless mesh screen (window screening) reinforcement.

Using wire ( of any type ) will create hot spots which can ( and will ) but "burn marks" in the chrome of the mufflers ... DO NOT DO THAT ... Use masking take to keep the matting in place until the baffles are inserted into the mufflers.

Hmmm, interesting.
So when I pulled the baffle what is still intact is packed pretty dense. My thought was repacking would cause the insulation to slide to the front of the baffle upon insertion.
So what happens to the masking tape...poof?

We have tested it. The ceramic works great for insulating to protect the chrome from heat but we didn't like the sound. We've tested many types of packing material and always end up concluding the fiberglass matting sounds the best. We offer packing for $20 at our warehouse outlet site. It's about $10 for packing and $10 for shipping. We recommend using masking tape to secure the matting when installing the baffles. http://rushracingproducts.mysimplest...eplacement-kit
