I see some companys offer ceramic coated headpipes. Anybody have them? What are the advantages, selling points?
Seems to me they would hold the heat or does it insulate and hold the heat down?
I'm still running a stock head pipe with the cat still in on a 2015 SGS and the more I read the more confused I get.
Google is good advice.
For me the Dragos 2 ceramic coated inside and out system increases the efficiency of the exhaust system in maintaining exhaust gas velocity through the system.
Gas cooling slows the velocity; ceramic helps maintain gas heat and velocity.
Works for me.
Good luck.

The theory behind ceramic coating is that the coating acts as an insulator and does not allow as much heat to be retained in the metal. Not sure I buy it but I had mine coated, inside and out, to change the color............. I also don't like heat shields so I thought if the aforementioned theory works, it might help with the heat.
On my 69 camaro, ceramic coated headers drastically reduced the under hood temperatures, and the temperature of the pipes is much cooler than the old painted headers. It should help the same way on the bikes, plus it looks good if you take care of it.
