Default intake info

00' Heritage TC 88....The stealership said bike dynoed at 72/80 with "junk"drag pipes and stock air filter. This forum says those numbers are very unlikely. But myself and previous owner have made no mods to bike till now. But I'm 3rd owner. And like everyone else i want more hp for riding 2-up with loaded teabag on weekend trips. So I replaced pipes with Cobra dragsters and stockair filter with a K&N filter in a stock air cleaner set-up. Love all the low end torque new pipes developed. but i think I lost horsepower, if thatmakes any sense. Would an after market air cleaner setup work that much better than the K&N in stock setup I have now? And since the jets are probably stock, with changes should I jump up just one size? cuz I'll be doin it. stealership want $100. Findin out that H D = $$$$$. 2 jugs,2 pistons, and decent heads with cams are $1,500 without labor!.. and last but not least..whats the best direction to go with a $1,000 to ger more HP.... thanx for any info... so far the forum's info has made the ride more enjoyable.

Definately want to do the carb kit. That alone will make a noticable difference in performance. I would say use a 45 for the pilot and 190 or 195 for the main.

The SE intake is one of the better intakes out there doller for doller. Some like the Ness better and flow numbers are simuliar if I remember correct. For 1k you could easly get needed tools, new chain drive cam, and heads reworked from someone like Big boys. For alittle more a 95 inch would seal the deal. My suggestion: Get the SE INTAKE and rejet. Ride it for now till you get alittle more cash. Then do heads, cam, and 95 all at once. WIll be cheaper in the long run and you will have a system that will work TOGEATHER reather than pieceing it togeather.

I agree with lockheart, we have seen many people dissapointed by not researching and spending their money on products that don't deliver what they expected. We find that it is better to spent a little more than you expected rather than less than you should. For instance your experience sacrificing horse power for torque. You can have both, pull 30 to 50 degrees temperature out of your engine and make it rev 2-4 seconds quicker with the right parts.
