Default Stroker Build

I have been on the jobsite since I last posted but it appears I will be off for the next three weeks so I am ready to put her back together. I had Truett and Osborn build stroker flywheels with 4 5/8" stroke with .020 over stock S & S flattop pistons. It was suggested that I take the heads down .050 to increase the compression to just under 10:1. Any suggestions or opinions on this suggestion?

I also have stock cv with 185 and 48 jets and stock K & N round air cleaner. STock iginition coil and sensor but I do have the correct screaming eagle 6500 limiter inigtion which is new. Straight pipes, no baffles.

Where would my money best be spent: I am leaning towards shaving the heads as suggested and some aftermarket air cleaner but can't decide which is best because of all the opinions on the subject. I value this forums advice and would heed the suggestions if they are given.

I would like to proceed steadily with the improvements i.e., not all at one time, so suggestions on timing the additions would be appreciated with special emphasis on what not to do as I am prone to those mistakes for some reason.

Does anyone have suggestions on the jets needed to properly push the new flywheels. I have the EV 27 installed which Osborn approved of with the suggestion down the road to do valve and spring upgrades, including bigger intake and exhaust valves.

I would

I wouldn't bother with the bigger valves if it was me, a good port job works as well or better.

Jet 195 48 with a sporty needle to start with.

I would keep the comp ratio below 10:1 because gas ain't gona get any better.

In about 100,000 miles, when my TC is wore out its gonna get an S&S stroker kit....I just LOVE stroked motors :-)

I ran a JIMS stroker for many years and an EV27 before that. Frankly any aftermarket air cleaner will do, such as SE or S&S, they are all capable of delivering the goods for a road-going engine. Personally I would not use straight pipes, as they are not very suitable for a road bike and you will get better torque with any linked pipes, better still a 2-into-1.

tHANK, for the advice I will start looking for some 2 into 1 but am worried about the great sound I get out of these which do have the middle tie-in. I have the 195 in hand and it will go in tonight. I will let you guys know when she starts or if I have a problem.

If you want a two into one with good sound check out the Bassini. I put a set on my 94 WG and they are the best sounding set I have ever heard, had supertrapps before and they made good power but the sound was not what I wanted. I don't have the part number but can find it if you are interested. Another plus with this set is that it is shorter than most..

Default updates on stroker

Broke big toe this Saturday morning so I hit the books in case I missed something and now I am glad I did. After consulting the leaflets with the S & S pistons I began wondering if I should not do some of the clearance testing and ring measurements. Needless to say I spent the rest of the weekend filing down ring ends and making sure the clearances will work when she is together (valve and piston on down stroke). Going back to work so I will be back at it Thursday.

She runs like a scalded *** ape. I ride her like I ride my ex old ladys so I am not surprised that the clutch and clutch hub need to be replaced. 70K on the original clutch is not too bad. Next up are a pair of STD dual plug heads ported by Makie that I have had my eye on since March. Cosmetics later.
