Default Big Sucker with Stock Oval Cover?

I just put my big sucker stage 1 on last night and when I put the stock oval cover on I noticed that there was about a 1/4 gap between the back of the cover and the mounting hole. Do you tighten the screw down until it stops? won't this "cave in" the center of the cover? Right now I have it tightned so it won't move but I am afraid constant vibration with make it loose.

Isn't there a bracket that went on the stock air cleaner for the cover? I'm thinking you might need to do that - I'm about to put my Stage I on too and thought I might have to use that so I made a mental note. Just something to consider...

I just took it apart and looked at that bracket you were talking about, even if it would fit it would leave a hole in the center of the big sucker filter. I stuck a couple of washers behind it for now but I still don't think its right.

My stage II kit came with a urethane washer that was about 1/4 of an inch....Did you have any left-over parts? If you need it I can send it to you. The stock cover doesnt fit the stage 2.

Jman, thanks for the offer but I think I got it worked out. I had three washers behind it and took one out now it fits pretty good.

twilliams, my big sucker was the same way. I stuck a couple washers behind the cover with some adhesive.
