I recently installed the Arlen Ness Big Sucker Air Cleaner, Stage 1, on 07 ultra and do not like the stock football cover. Do they make a smaller cover? I have been told that you can only get the flat and thin cover for the stage 2 kit but could order a 9" round or something like that to replace the stock cover. Is this true?
Any HD or aftermarket a/c insert for the football cover will fit right on top of the filter. Alot cheaper than what Ness wants for the smaller covers. Or you could get one custom made here.
For the BS stage 1, any stock Evo cover would fit, if you're looking for something to cover the whole filter (a good idea in inclement weather), or any other aftermarket round 8" cover.
You can normally use and air clener insert - How ever the ones for the football style air cleaner was too small and the one's for the 8" round was just a lil' bit to large (for the Big Sucker Filter) - But I used one of these anyway but NOT from HD...
I was concerned about filter exposed to rain sa carry a cheap shower cap for protection while parked not concerned while riding. A piece of stainless and a little ingenuity will make a great cover

You a whiskey drinker, SoCal? I was a Bourbon man. Loved the stuff, maybe to much, LOL. Try a small batch made by Jim Beam, it is called **** Creek. For the money, there is not a better bourbon on the market, and I have tried just about all of them. I liked it so much, I had it tatted on my shoulder. This is my idea of 'Man's Ruin', lol
You can run a 7" cover as well. Check the catalogs.
Check my profile and you'll note the old 7" Screamin Eagle round that came out in '88.
Harley now stocks the 8" (with notch or not to accomondate the CV). From what I recently learned when I just literally purchased another round from Harleyis the Bar and Shield 8" last week (without notch fo the CV carb) is to be phased out.
It is a cheaper alternative than paying your left nut for Alen Ness stuff.
There is a company that makes fair weather covers for air filters called Outterwear. They make the water/rain cover for those who are concerned about their open filter.
Asfor a filter cover all of the methods mentioned will work. It often comes down to preference.
I run a Mikuni filter and my football cover wouldn't fit over it. So I now run an 8" round until I come up with something I like better.
