Hey, sorry this post is going to sound pathetically noobish. Even though I've been riding 20 years, i'm not particularly mechanically inclined.
I have a 2002 EFI Deuce and had it garaged for a couple of years. I recently put it back on the road and have just been loving riding again.
One thing I've always hated is the lame football cover on the air cleaner. I know you can do a stage 1 upgrade with a SE or Arlen Ness or similar kit and switch out the cover with all kinds of sweet customized stuff.
But say I didn't care about the stage 1 upgrade, i'm fine with the way my bike rides but want to just change out the cover with something that looks nicer. Is that doable? Is it as simple as unscrewing the football cover and screwing on a round cover?
Bottom line is i'm looking to spend $100 bucks on a cool cover rather then $500 on a stage 1 kit right now. Thanks guys.
Your ac filter and backing plate are not round so you need to do more than just change the cover to a round one. Assuming your bike is efi(?) and your exhaust is stock changing out the whole ac wouldnt be a very expensive problem if you were to go with something like a arlen ness big sucker
theres a few aftermarket covers out there that fit your stock air cleaner (search the web and you'll find some) or you can cut your stock football cover https://www.hdforums.com/forum/2909122-post642.html
