I have done a search and read many posts and replys. What I noticed are the answers are mixed and did not give me the answer I need. My dealer has offered me a good deal on a set of V&h true duals w/turing mufflers, screaming eagle air box w/k&n filter, and the v&h fuel manger. My question is this:
I am really not that interested in the air box or fuel manger-I prefer to stay stock in that area
I am only wanting a little more sound-don't like loud
and remove some heat from right side and the rear cylinder
I do not want to lose my good mpg
I am not interested in losing any low end power
I have a 07 uc
I did't see a question in your post. Your '07 UC runs hot mainly because the air/fuel mixture programmed into your bike's computer (ECM) is extremely lean to permit HD to meet EPA emissions requirements.
There are many ways to richen the air/fuel and they cover a broad price range, but it will require some add-on parts or an HD Screamin Eagle Race Tuner (~$459).
Without a fuel management change, there is no way to richen the fuel mixture on your computer controlled, fuel injected engine--if it was a carburetor bike, you could re-jet the carb to richen the mixture. And unless you richen the mixture, you won't see any appreciable reduction in heat.
Another alternative is to simply add some heat shields that fit under the seat and direct hot engine air away from your legs. HD sells them, Kuryakyn and RJS originals offer products for this purpose.
The fuel mangement devices available do a good job and won't hurt your fuel mileage if properly installed and tuned.
That helps me to understand a lot better. No loud exhaust and mpg is the most important. I did add the kuryakyn mid fairing and it has helped a lot but not a cure. I have added the k&n air filter with a custom air box and fuel manager on a few bikes.I was hoping not to have to do this on this bike.
Thank you for your reply
