Default melted sensor

From another site.........Was at dealer yesterday going over issues with my bike. After we got through that, the service manager took me over to an 07 CVO Road King that came in with oil leak from the Crank Position Sensor. He showed me the sensor he removed. The internal side of the sensor was melted away exposing the copper coil wire, which is actualy the sensor. This is heavy duty plastic and it was melted like somone took a match to it. Service manger said his oil level was right on the mark. How in the world could this happen, oil could not have melted this because the oil level is way below the sensor. Service manager said when he called harley tech line to discuss they said they are aware of this issue and told him they were sending a new motor. Damnnn another one bites the dust.. what is going on

Default RE: melted sensor

I suppose the lack of oil could lead to excess heat build up.
