I've got a 'new to me' 2017 Harley Ultra Limited. I noticed a slight rattle when test driving which turned out to be a loose Screamin Eagle slip-on on the left side. It was twisted enough to tap against the frame which caused the noise. I loosened it a bit, twisted it back in place and tightened it down as much as I could. That worked ... for a while. A couple of months later I'm back to the same loose pipe. I would like to loosen it up again and place something around the connection point before tightening down again in order to give me something more substantial to clamp down on so this hopefully doesn't happen again. What would you recommend that I wrap around the connection between the slip-on and the head pipe to add thickness and help to hold the slip on in place?
I`ve always had to wrestle them on or off !
You could start with a new clamp , perhaps apply a pipe expander to the head pipe. ( preferred method )
Exhaust sealant "might" work
Shim stock as shown below could be a PITA to install
if the muffler has slots like my D&D they were not long enough. the pipe end is stronger than the clamp when in this stage. I had the same issue. I took my dremel and made the slots about 1/2 longer under the clamp and it hasn't moved since.
