Default Length question...

I'd really like to change the look of the pipes on my 99 FLSTC, without really changing the stock headers. Right now I believe it's bone stock. What I'd really like to do is just swap out the slip on mufflers for a pair of longer fishtails, but the only way I can see it looking anything like propotional is to have the front exhaust, pretty significantly longer than the rear.
I'm sticking with 1ž" pipes, not going to some silly 3" numbers. I'm more concerned with looks over sound. I've found a bunch of straight slip ons at everywhere from 10" to 40" & would like to keep the tips staggered, although not as far staggered as the originals, if you get what I mean.

How detrimental would that be to overall running? I'm not overly concerned about fuel economy or performance (I'm a plodder, these days) but I don't want to cause any damage or create an unsolvable tuning issue.

This is what I'll be working with......

I'm envisioning the rear pipe finishing up about where it is now, but the front wants to be back about another 12"
Would I do any real harm running, say, an 18" on the rear & a 30" on the front?

Neither of these systems are anywhere close in length.
Nor do they benefit from the cross over tube of your stock headpipes.
Not a fan of the style or sound but that`s just personal preference

Good point. I don't know why I didn't think of that.
