Default Exhaust ?

I have been trying to find out if JUST installing exhaust on EFI bike will hurt anything until I can finish adding upgrades. Plan: V&H Black SSS on '07 FXSTB now. Big Sucker with ECM add-on later. Will just the exhaust hurt anything for a couple of months? What are dealers charging in Houston area for flash? I know I won't get full benefit of pipes until I do the rest but will they sound better? Thanks in advance.

You should be fine as long as you don't change intake. Even though the pipe will let air out you are still restricted on air in. I would pull the plugs and take a pic of them now for a referance point then pull them again after 10 or 20 miles with new pipes and compair before and after to make sure you are all right. HD sets these things SO LEAN from factory to pass regulations that I would keep a check on things.

Thanks for the reply. I want the whole package but can only afford one thing at a time. Sucks being broke.

The best answer, is possibly. People will tell you the engine is pump. changing one the input or the out put won't make a difference. Technically it does make a difference, it may just not be much. The question is: will the narrow band senors be able to adjust enough so that you are not too lean. Answer, it depends. I did it with Rush 1.75 slip ons (2007 Heritage Classic) checked the plugs every 5 miles on a 50 mile ride; knowing any overly lean signs I would turn back. It was OK but really on the line of being too lean. For less than $90 you can put the Ness Big Sucker on. My answer then was the Tmax (Shooter64 [forum member] sells them $687) and everything was fine and is fine. Do it right or risk $20,000.
