exhaust gaskets.

Hello, Question about exhaust gaskets. I have a set of cobra pipes on my 02 dyna super glyde. I reused my old style split ring type exhaust gaskets. Well now I come to find that the popping at times is coming from my old seals. I picked up a pair of new exhaust gaskets and they are like a metal braid type. How do theese type of exhaust gaskets go on?? Do they slide on, or do they compress?? One side is slightly tapered.

You just put them into the cylinder. They only go in one way,then put your pipe in there,it will compress and seal your exhaust.

Ok, that sounds simple enough. Whats the trick to holding them in place while you connect your pipe?

thanx for the tip. The old ones that where on there where not as beefy, hence thats why I had a wicked exhaust leak. After a little persuasion everything butted up real good. Thanks
