pipe is a C model with 1 3/4 primarys in chrome. @ 685$
In spite of concerns over what other people have said to the contrary, I like their design. I called them a little over a month ago and decided to order a 2" C 45 degree turnout chrome LSR 2-1 for my R&R built 113" softail. I provided not only explicit details of the built, tranny, frame, etc - but also actual photos of the motor. I expressed my concern over fitment for the Jims 6spd overdrive and the billet R&R gearcase cover. They insisted that fitment would be fine. I called a month later, and they seemed to not be able to find any record of my order, but then found that the order was "in stock". They shipped it quickly and I received it last night. Price was relatively reasonable in comparison to a FatCat or other "quality" exhaust. Actual quality of the item I received seemed pretty good. No complaints in that area.
I am in the final stages of re-assembly of the bike. I wanted to confirm as quickly as possible that there were no fitment issues, so I tried to put it in place temporarily lastl night.
There are issues. The front of the rear pipe hits the back top corner of the R&R gearcase cover (pictuer attachaed). Nothing I could do to change it. I sent a number of very clear photos via email to RB showing the issue, hoping they would have a solution. On their site, for another customer they state "Special 00-1062 for S&S components. Note: We sent the customer two exhaust systems. The second one made to clear special equipment he had on the bike. We can make things fit but we have to know what configuration your bike is regarding transmissions, offsets, add-on parts etc." under the photo of a Fatboy with what looked like a relatively similar configuration to mine (note that I had pointed this out to them PRIOR to making my order and had been assured that fitment would be fine on mine). That photo and text can be found at http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/lsr21/softail.htmlunder the section "Mr Fat" about halfway down the page.
The response from RB was very short. It states:
"Return the part.
Our policy is and has been you must return the part without running the part.
Fitment issues related to other people's parts are beyond our control.
We often tell people to send the offending part back to the other vendor for modification. It costs us hundreds of dollars in lost time, beat up parts etc. because of these issues. People expect us to rectify their engineering problems.
If you bought the exhaust first you could be writing the engine vendor instead of us.
We have no information regarding your billet parts. We only have information regarding S&S parts.
When the part is returned we will decide what we will do. Not before."
I called them to find out why the discrepency between what they say on their site, and what they say in this email. I got a very vague and unhelpful response.
[font=consolas][size=3]Obviously I'm not happy about it, but at least know now what I'm dealing with. The exhaust is going back immediately. I guess my advice is like many others. If you have a very stock bike with no potential fitment problems, and don't need support - then I love the design of the pip
Thats too bad about the fittment issues, they do have sexy looking parts.
Just goes to show - I should have listened to those talking about what a jerk the guy was. Now I'm out $45 shipping for the pipe to get to me and whatever it costs to get it back, plus most likely having to fight with them about the refund. They don't seem so ethical so far so there's no reason for me to believe they'll start now.
Yup. I actually wasn't too upset about the fitment issue. I figured I'd send them some pics and based on what they said on the site, they'd just have a solution for me in the form of a slightly different pipe. However, the email response I got from them (as well as a second one I got) was so friggin arrogant and ridiculous that there is absolutely nothing whatsoever I could say about them in a positive manner. It's really too bad. I'm about to repack their stuff and get it back to them as fast as possible to get my money back. I'm completely OK with working with a manufacturer to resolve an issue. I will not put up with an a$$hat who believes that they're the second coming of christ. I sent them an email whereI very politely told them that I was disappointed and I got back another rude tirade. I'm guessing the owner must have had the crap kicked out of him all through high school and has never emotionally recovered.

I kinda have a setup that is alittle baised to low and mid range power and I love the power band I have with the fat cat. I had the Rinehart 2 to 1 before and it was alittle disapointing on the low end.
First, I drag it way too much. Bike isn't lowered, but I scrape it all the time on right hand turns. Second, I honestly like the look of the LSR for my particular bike far better. I'm also a little concerned that I may have a bit too much motor for the pipe now. I talked to Mark at D&D and neither of us is completely sure. But, D&D are good folks so I guess I'll stick with the fatcat a while longer. Sure wish I could figure out a way to stop dragging the pipe so darned much. I'm not racing either. It's just pretty twisty and hilly around here.
