I would like some feedback on best? cam to use in my 2005 electra glide.
My thoughts are to use the Andrews 37 with chain drive, but how abought the SE 203 or 204? My dealer with a dyno says to use the Andrews. My other mods are exhaust and aircleaner. It is an injected bike. I plan on next year doing 1550 big bore kit. I mostly ride metro area with cross country trips, abought 5000 miles a year. Most riding will be solo.
I also am thinking of going to a 23 tooth primary trans gear.
Well jeepster seem's like you are wanting to do alot of mod's to your bike which is great but if I wear putting in new cam's I'd put in a gear drive and get rid of the chain, also I would lean to the 204 on the SE side of cam's and the Andrews 27, at least that's what Dewey of Dewey's Heads said to do, if your going to do a big bore kit a little latter you will either have to pay for two remap's or buy a power commander to do the fuel adjustment's, which in your case would be the best choice for you with the continueous mod's. But HD and other's offer Big Bore kit's that come with cam upgrade's and for the money it sound's like you'd be better to do it all at once but if you want to just put in cam's that's ok to.
I would seriously recommend doing the conversion in one swoop- overall total cost will be less, and one time to open the motor and do the setup of the map. Gear frive (Andrews) is better than chain....

I think the Andrews 27 cam is for Evolution motor. I am trying to do mods on a budget...I can't afford to do big bore now; but I can afford to do cam. A friend just gave me a set of stock bore take off cylinders, which I will get bored later.
My biggest question is which cam to go with of the ones that I am looking at. I was hoping someone has used them and could give me some feed back. How is the power? idle quality? etc.
I hear pros and cons of going to gear drive.....? Biggest one being that extra cost is really not worth the benifitt for street bike. If it was a race bike there would be no question that the gear drive would be used. I have also decided to go with a 23 tooth primary gear change, the stock gear is a 25 tooth; hopefully this will really help roll on power with out killing top end.[sm=feedback.gif]
Hi iam new to the site. Great site lots of info. I have a 01 Heritage Classic. I used the Andrews TW21 cams and had the cam chians polished, less wear on the chian tensioners. I also have 1550 flattop pistons and .030 Comtec headgaskets, #48 slow jet in the carb. The bike idles better and runs very stong. My brother in law has a 04 screamin eagle elec.glide and were side by side when we race. Hope this helps.
jeepster sorry about the 27 info on the cam but that what he said (Dewey) but I think the TC88 cam for that # is the 37 grind in andrews. So your dealer said he would use the Andrews instead of the SE cams, that's unusal for the dealer to do that or it is around here, just make sure what you put in will still run with the stock head setup and the 204 SE cam is better than the 203.
The dealer I deal with is Faribault H.D. in Minnesota. They seem real sharp and are experienced with dyno tuning.
I think i'll go with his recc. considering it is similar to the SE 204 I'll let everyone know how it works out.

After that you still have to choose.
I have a 90 FXST. I did the cam and will do the motor later for the same reasons.
I was looking at one of the smaller cams and found an HD parts guy that got excited just talking about the SE4. He explained it is more of a bagger cam, but sure gave my softie a kick in the a$$. It worked well for me, because I always have the honey on the back.
The SE4 was around the same as the EV27as far as specs. Nightrider has some great charts for choices.
Thanks for the feedback. My Harley dealer service manager said the same thing, except he claims the Andrews 37 makes a little more power on the Dyno. He said it is very close to the SE 204. He thought that I would not be dissapointed with either cam just that he has had better luck with the Andrews.
