Those pipes are made for proper air flow. Also I dont know how he will punch the baffles out or will he take the baffles out.a lot guys end up making them straight flow with any back psi. so you see a few hp on top end but you might suffer on low end. Thats all I am tryinng to say. But it is up to him and how much he wants to spend and when you pop a hole in the se pipes they sound like a high tangy sound Just my 2 cents.......I would not do itI would tell you buy some new slip-ons.
My understanding from his question was about removing the cats not the baffles.
I have removed the cats from a set of HD CVO mufflers and left the baffles intact. The volume did go up a little but not a lot. The do sound is a little deeper in tone also. However I noticed a seat of the pants inprovement with the cats out. They still have the baffle backpressure. They about as loud as the SE Touring mufflers.
I am sorry. I read it wrong My shop is in Poplar grove IL. We dont see cats on bikes. I thought you ment the caps on the baffles..... and punchinhg them out.
