I am installing a set of V&H Ovals. They came with new clamps but I am using a new set of the H-D ones. My service manual gives a torque setting of 45/60 ft/lbs but the sheet that came with the mufflers is saying 12 ft/lbs. That is quite a difference.
Could V&H be giving the low setting for their clamps?

Should I just use the 45 ft/lbs from the manual?
Rineharts come with similar torque specs; I used the HD clamps with HD's torque values like Dawg suggested.
The V&H clamps are different than the HD ones in order to fit V&H TDs. (shields wrap further around on V&H TDs and hug the pipe tighter so there's no room for HD clamps) I'm thinking you are putting the Ovals on stock HD headpipes (and not V&H TDs) so the HD clamps will work. They have a different torque spec.
