Default Thunderheader, pants on fire...

Getting off the 405 freeway yesterday, had to sit on the off ramp for no more than 45 seconds and as soon as i turned onto the street, I felt the heat. The back pipe usually gets pretty hot which I blame on the two 180 degree bends in it, but nothing like this. The denim on my jeans inside my right calf turned gold, and was just about to start burning. I have heard stories about this, but didnt think it was that much of an issue. As much as I like the pipe, its got to go. It came off a bike that was laid down, and heat shields wont cover the scrapes. which is why its wrapped. I've tried wrapping it, and I tried the VIEDswhich worked, but made the check engine light come on. Cant afford a Fat Cat right now, so I'm going with a set of the new black short shots for the summer.

"Reasonable facsimile, may not have actually happened as pictured"

thats intence bro! I was running a Rinehart 2 to 1 last summer and almost burned my ***** off last Aug. due to an overly lean A/F ratio!

I think a blacked out Fatcat would look cool on your ride!

I had short shots on my bike for a month or so, I was over them quick!

I agree, and according to almost everyone I've talked to, the Fat Cat (black of course) would probably out perform the Thunder Cooker hands down, but the Short Shot Staggereds are all I can afford right now. The new ones look quite improved over the original short shots in that they step up to 2 1/8" at the muffler, my local dyno guy said he swapped out a set on a newer softail this week that had a set of the old style short shots ang picked up like 6hp along with some torque. Plus they had ought to look bitchin for the time being.

I love the Thunderheader, it does get hot though. I wouldn't trade it for anything else.
