What baffles to get for straight pipes. Need more torque!
I have an '05 FLSTSCI Springer Classic with straight fishtail pipes. Actually, stock headers into 1 3/4" straight fishtail mufflers. Upon switching, I have noticed a HUGE difference in the responsiveness off my bike. I'm assuming its from the backpressure (or lack of). The oversized H-D mufflers that were on it were way too quiet for my style. Does anybody have a reccommendation for slip in baffles, or torque cones, that can help my problem? Thanks, Chad

Chad I hate to tell you this but the 1 3/4' Fish Tail pipes are by far the BIGGEST hp & tq robbers you could have possibably installed on your bike, in my opinion there is nothing you can do to improve them....sorry

I have seen you've had some input with others on this topic so maybe you might have some suggestions on some slip-on's that have good performance at a decent price. I was originally hoping just to be able to put some baffles in (a whole lot cheaper than another new exhaust). However, I'd rather not even mess with it if you areright about these 13/4" straight fishtails. So, can you recommend something, possibly with fishtails?

If your happy with the look of your bike and don't care about the power loss leave them on. No fishtail pipe is good for performance...it's the fishtail part that is restricting the flow of the exhaust...ie... the exhaust can't get out and it backs up until the cylinder stays filled with spent gasses. Now you said you want to install torque cones....those things restrict the exhaust at the head so now your hurting the performance even more.
Spending your money on a mufflers with fishtails would be a waist...although the muffler does give the gasses a bigger place to go than the 1 3/4' pipe, it won't make that much difference....again if thats the look you want stay with what you have but for goodness sake don't add any more restrictions to them.
