Big time baffle problems
I knew I wasn't getting enough flow so I drilled out the quiet baffle holes to 1/2" ... better but still caused hesitation and hot pipes and were now almost as loud as the standard V&H baffles. So I fabricated a big city monster baffle and installed it with the standard V&H baffles... still lost some midrange torque (that's right - LOST not gained)and were still too loud. I'm dinked! The only baffles my bike seems to like are the standard V&H? (It rocks through all ranges with the setup) I was thinking of fabricating some 1 3/4" flanged to 2" but it's quite an undertaking for an experiment.
I guess what I need is the 1 3/4" I.D. but quiet (er) and pretty much no back pressureany ideas?
I'll post the results in a few days.

EDIT: I built the baffles and they \\;turned out \\;awesome! I actually got a slight increase in torque and the sound is much more tolerable. I haven't had a chance to record it but man am I ever happy with the results! The overall baffle length is 13" like the stock V&\\;H longs but I tapered them down to 1 1/2" I.D. with very open mesh (1/2") and packed them with fiberglass matting. When I roll off the throttle I can barely hear the bike but when I crack it open he roars and the baffles actually open up, sort of self tune (by accident) .. I couldn't be happier!
