intermittent lifter noise
I have an 03 fxdwg with the following mods,htcc 10.5 pistons cnc htcc heads s/e support plates s/e lifters s/e tapered adj pushrods s&\\;s roller rockers converted to new style roller chains with kuraykyn 575 cams and new style oil pump.the problem is that after 75 miles lifters started to clack,replaced with a set of feuling lifters I had from earlier and noise went away for about 50 miles and returned i went and bought a new set of s/e lifters and the same thing happened \\;\\\\\\; quiet then got louder .I ran the bike around 80mph for about 5 miles and noise went away then came back in about 20 miles.I used to run gear drives and motor was extremely noisy my crank has .003 runout and was causing gear clatter.my lifter bores are at last check at the max clearance allowed by harley according to service manual.I think i need oversized lifters but have been fking with this thing for about 2 years on and off and have about had it.Any help would be greatly appreciated.I have tryed different oils and makes no difference I always ran amsoil.
