I've got 120' Ultima engine and I'm looking for good pipes for it. I'm considering hookers fourbidden exhausts, but dont know if it'll work with such big engine. What other 2 into 1 performance pipes can you think off that will be suitable with this mill.
I have the Hooker Tuned Flow on my soft tail. I really like the sound and seems to perform also. Vance and Hines Pro pipe is always a good performer, as is the D&D Fat Cat. I like to have something different though. The Rhinehart 2-1 is also supposed to perform really well. Vance and Hines also makes the 2-1 Big Radius that is supposed to be good also.The Hooker Tuned Flow is offered with two different primary tube sizes. Under 96 cubic inch and over 96 cubic inch. I would recommend this pipe to anyone. Check it out, but go to the bigger primary if you like it. Just my thoughts.
My brother in law had a highly altered Jims 120 tuned with both a pro pipe and a custom set of pipes. Custom set made about 160 to 170hp, but suprisingly the pro pipe wasn't far behind. You can check it out on Latus harley website, they've got a sh** load of dyno sheets tuned by Mige Steggman.
what size valves are the heads that will determin what size pipes you need...
the pro pipe will not work unless it is modified in a 120. dont beleive it.
fat cat is a sure bet.
quiet baffle or standard baffle is good the performance baffle is the standard baffle in the borzilla. its pretty loud but not a s loud as some other pipes.
i have baisley heads he set them up to run with the Borzilla pipe.
I just took a Pro-pipe off of my 117" because it had a terrible dip in the torque curve between 1500-3000 rpm and was looking for a new pipe. I was looking at Rineharts, Bassani, Cycle Shack and other V&H's as these were all the recommended pipes for a big engine. After all the research I did on the forums, and talking with Kendall Johnson who is known for BIG engine builds, he said "no question-Boarzilla or Fatcat". One of the other forum members with a 117" just switched his Pro-pipe for a Fatcat as well. His tuner tried the Boarzilla and Fatcat both and determined that the Fatcat outperformed the Boarzilla up to 4500 rpm and then the Boarzilla took over for the high end HP. I was more interested in low end torque so I went with the Fatcat. I have not even been to the tuner yet since I just made the switch but I can already tell the Fatcat is kicking the Pro-pipes @ss. If you're looking for more low end the Fatcat will do it. If you're chasing the highest HP numbers the Boarzilla would be the pick. If you get the Fatcat be sure and get the big bore performance baffle. It is the same baffle as in the Boarzilla. The only difference between the Fatcat with the big bore and the Boarzilla is the Fatcat has a 1 3/4" header stepped to 1 7/8" where as the Boarzilla has a 1 7/8" stepped to 2". That's why the Fatcat is better on the lower end and the Boarzilla on the higher.
As an added bonus, since I have a Road King Classic and prefer the look of duals on this bike, you can even get a ghost pipe for the Fatcat that fits on the other side so it looks like duals. You can't tell it's not real.......so you get the performance of a 2-1 and the look of duals both.
What do you expect from the exhaust? What bike, how do you ride, what engine components? And don't say you want it all; low, mid, high end power, cause it is not going to happen no matter what anyone tells you. All exhaust systems are compromises, some are just better than others at doing it. So you need to determine what RPM range is most important. With a 2-1, you are typically going to give up some low RPM power to get a very strong mid range. There is also a tendency for 2-1's to drop off a little at maximum RPM's over a 2-2. But when you look at the average power in the important RPM range (usually the mid-range), the 2-1's should be well above average. But not all 2-1's are created equal.
If you want to optimize your mid-to-top end power, the RB racing with its 2" headers is going to have a distinct advantage. If you want to maintain a lot of low-mid range power, never discount the ability of the SuperTrapp 2-1 to be able to make good power here because of its tunable baffle system.
If you are into looks more than serious power, you can just pick what ever you want.
But you can be assured that there is no 'one size fits all'. I have dyno tested and raced a variety of 2-1's and 2-2's in the same engine, so have a good idea how various combinations react. You need to decide what is important to you.
