Rented a Road Glide and liked it, but it needs more power to be fun. Can anybody recommend a motor that has actually been built and tested to provide about 100 ft-lbs and 95-105hp? Is that an attainable goal for 100,000 mile motor or am I being unrealistic?
My other option is to buy a used 88 TC and install a S&S motor, but that would be a different topic.
There are a ton of ways to easily exceed the numbers you are talking about. And they can be very reliable. A 103 can easily see 110+hp and 115+ tq. Do a little research in the engine section here and you will find recommendations for 103's, 113's, 117's, 120's and more.
Go to http://www.head-quarters-usa.com/ to learn a lot more and their builds are reliable, consistent and you can price all you need on their site. My 120" build is a Headquarters top end and is everything you would want in a bagger
Thanks for the advice, I do appreciate it. I am also looking for advice/testimonials from people who are actually running a specific engine, pipes, and tune in the hope that I can learn from their experieices.
I had a HQs 103 in my 07 SG i traded at 23450 (+ _ ) miles on it. The HQs motor ran strong -- I had fastest 103 in the my club -- and would get close to the 113's --- but they would pull away on the top end.
The motor made 105 hp 114 torque with a so so tune -- never had an issue with the motor.
I like HQs stuff some much that I put a HQs 107 in my 08 road glide after one month -- I am not concerned with warranty their stuff is excellent. Have not put it on the Dyno and don't know if I will--I have their auto tuner and it's still being dialed in.
There are others whose quality is just as good (Hillside, AMS, S&S, GMR) but I have hands on experience with HQs.
Do a search here you will find more than enough information to make an informed decision.
Don't know of anyone who builds an engine with that kind of power, everything I know of available has more. You can get those numbers out of top end work. I like this stuff, (they have a couple of 155" baggers out there) www.rrcycles.com I have a couple of 131's out there doing great with their heads (R&R's). These people don't go on this forum so pm me and I'll give you there phone numbers.
Client of ours just posted a chart on another message board, with the TTS Master Tune.
Tuned at JD's Cycle, near Philadelphia. Simple straightfoward bagger build that Dyna owers also love.
Marked 104 ft/lbs, 106 hp. Bolt-in Bob Wood 6 cam. Very,very simple assembly for the DIY's.
110/110 numbers are actually not too hard to achieve out of a TC 95" setup. And it can be done with reliability as well. Don't need a 103" or larger stroked motor to get it either.
What exactly to you have for a bike btw? You said you RENTED a Roadglide?
I built my 03 RKC with the following:
HD HTCC (not the CNC Ported) heads and pistons, Woods TW5G cams, SE 50mm TB, Delcron billet cam plate, Rinehart TDs, and a few other small goodies and it dynoed at 102hp, 112 tq. You can easily get the 95's into the 100/100 range. Just an example and probably one which I would modify to use diferent pistons and heads, but again, just an example. This was a great bagger build with the power down low and reliable as all get out, put 60 k on it prior to selling to upgrade to the Ultra.

Assuming this was a 95", #'s sound correct if it is. The Woods 5g cam is a great cam with a couple of the SE heads.
