Screaming Eagle Slip-Ons
I hope that someone can tell me if this is true. I just bought a Softail Standard and I wanted to change out the stock mufflers for Sreaming Eagle II Slip-Ons. My bike is injected, I talked to a couple of people that have told me that as long as I don't change out the airfilter I won't have to do anything to the fuel injection system. I put the S.E. mufflers on yesterday and she runs fine (and sounds ten times better) But someone else told me that I might be overheating the engine. Any info would be helpful. Michael

You should be fine with just the pipes. Check your plugs and see where they are. If it isn't backfiring or popping then you are probably not running any leaner than the bike was designed to run. I would suggest that you do something to open of the air flow. Even though it runs good now, it will run even better with the high flow SE air cleaner with either the HD Race Download, SERT or PCIII that is tuned correctly. All Harleys run extremely lean from the factory.

I agree, skip the dealer flash and put that $150 towards the SERT. $369 at hale's HD.
Personally, these bikes are already leaned out in cruise mode. I can't help but to think that even a simple slip on install is not helping the cause if you "catch my drift".

I did the same and have put 250 miles on since. Seems to be ok no popping or nothing, but what happens when the temps get much warmer out? Will 90 degree weather make a difference? Im hoping to have the sert before to long but just curious. Thanks!

Does increasing the air flow with a new A/C and richening things up with the D/L, PCIII, etc. change the sound of the SEII mufflers any? I've just installed the mufflers and really like the sound. Just curious if it will change as I continue the MOD's.
