I have a 09 stage 1 103ci, dealer said to add se255 cams for stage two.
just seems that they put the power in too high of an rpm range for a cruiser.
would'nt i want a cam that is set for a lower rpm for highway riding????

There is nothing about this cam that "puts the power in too high of an rpm range for a cruiser." These cams are all lower end grunt. Without headwork they'll make about 80-83 hp, and 100-104 lbs of tq....and be DEAD between 3500-3800 rpm. I had them in my '07 FXST.
Don't over look the Andrews lineup...tried and true. I have the 31's in my 103; the Woods 6 or the HQ 500 MIGHT make a couple more hp or tq, but I couldn't be happier with my 31's. Had 210# cranking compression with the 255's, have 175 with the 31's. Threw my compression releases away, no more ping on hot days, and my scoot is FAST and runs Lexus-smooth in the midrange. I had it tuned by a guy that's got a real following of happy customers; he always used SERTs but by the time he did mine the SERTs were gone and he said he was having great success with the SESTs. My numbers were achieved on a hot August day with high humidity. The bike is so much faster/smoother/better mpg than the 255's it's amazing! BTW, I stayed with the roller chain setup and did the cam change myself.
I am having the 31s put in my build too, but in a post I put in another thread there was discussion that the 103 builds run problems with the bottom end breaking even with a simple start up. Is this true? you say that yours is running fine, did you do any bottom end work? Is breakage a real problem with only a 103 top end build?
Thanks, I began thinking that I have heard a lot of people talk about problems, but hadn't heard anyone that went with the build say anything negative and 20K miles that sounds real good. I really can't wait to get it back and take it out for a spin I am hoping the smile doesn't come off either.
