Dalton is correct, I think the best corse of action would be to just save up and get the BB kit and head work and cams at the same time, Its painful but its way less headache!

most of use have gotten exited and bought a bunch of parts and ended up redoing everything to fix issues with the buildes, such as power in the wrong place, or pinging.

to me, if your on a budget then Woods parts would be right off the table, and Andrews or HQ cam set will be at least 100$ cheaper.

The HQ 0034 will work with stock compresion up to 10.0 to 1 with out needing an advance gear.

The Andrews 37 works well too. even better with just minor head work.

I've had the HQ-0034 cams in my '04 EG otherwise stock motor for 2+ years and haven't thought about a 95" build since. It runs stronger than SE BB kits using the SE 203 cams, and as strong as a buddy's '02 RK with BigBoyz steet ported heads.

Check the BigBoyz cam comparator on their website and you will see that the HQ-0034 cams have an intake close of 36* while the Andrews 26, Woods 6, S&S 510 and many others use a 40* intake close. The earlier intake close moves the torque earlier in the rpm's which is why you see many of the 40* intake close cams sold with a 4* advance key for stock compression applications.

WARG, to clarify Maineultraclassic's application with the Woods 6 cams (and I wish he would have said it himself), he uses heads that have been worked on by BigBoyz, so his compression is higher than stock; not sure how much higher than stock, but higher.

Good luck with your research.

Cool I am on the same page

I have a 2001 Dyna Wide Glide with a hypersucker intake, 42mm Mikuni catb, two into one Thunder Header and the Screaming Eagle ignition. I just had it dyno'd I have 70.2 HP with 81 FT pounds of torque. I have been looking at the Andrews 37G gear driven set up. Most of my riding is one up to work and back 14 miles round trip, 100 to 200 mile trips on a weekend and depending on how much time off I get the trips get longer but usually the above mentioned. I do all my oun work except for changing the rubber. So I am ready to hit the cash out button and thought I would stop in here to get more info. I have not checked into the woods set up when I am done here I will browse that. I found a place on ebay motors for $520.00 for the whole kit gears cams bearings installation kit a couple hundred less than the Andrews site, plus free shipping. I don't knoe if I am supposed to mention the name but it's American Classic Motors. Any input is welcome, I want to hit the cash button real bad!
Thanks.

HD has a new tensioner/billet cam plate/high volume oil pump piece that provides the '07 style tensioners for pre-07 bikes. It's primary benefit over the Andrews/Woods piece is that the HD piece allows you to use any HD or aftermarket cams you could use in your bike's current configuration. The Andrews/Woods piece only uses cams specifically designed to work with it--a very small universe of cams by comparison.

You can go to HD's website; click on Genuine Motor Accessories; then on "New Products" and you'll find it. Good luck with your research.

thanks, right now I'm leaning towards just waiting until I can do the whole deal, cams, heads, 95" cylinders, pistons, etc. all at once.

thanks for all the input.

If I can pick up an Andrews 21 for cheap, I may go that route for now. Kuma just installed it, and he is very happy with it so far. We'll see...

I agree about not using the 4 degree advance, I also was told by Scotty that if your going to use the 6 in an early bike that you want to use gear drive and if I was going to gears I'd use the RR525 (38 degree intake closing), it doesn't bloat the cylinders and then run out of legs on top and the HQ cams fall a little short on the exhaust timing.
