Backfiring
I have a 2000 FLSTC with 7300 miles. Last year I didn't ride it at all. This winter I changed the gas out and fired it up. Didn't run worth a crap. I had a cracked accelerator pump diaghram, replaced it and took the carb apart and cleaned with carb cleaner. I replaced the tank filter, put new gas again and new plugs in it. It will only run at idle with the chock out some. If i push it all the way in it stalls. At higher RPM's it spits and backfires. I thought maybe a vacuum leak so with it good and warm I sprayed water at the intake and it really didn't make a difference or stall. At first I thought it was all gonna be a bad gas problem but now I don't have a clue where to look.
Any suggestions would really be appreciated. I'ld like to try and fix it myself. Thanks to you all.

Sounds like you put the needle jet back in upside down, or it's not seated correctly. Take off the air cleaner and look into the bore of the carburetor. Can you see the needle jet sticking up into the bore about an eighth of an inch or so?
