I am in the process of doing a Cam change at home. The previous cams (done at the dealer) were done 10,000 mileas ago. At that time they put in the new Full Compliment Torrington Bearings.
Would these bearings need to be replaced again? I know the Bearings are cheap but the tools would cost me about 200.00 shipped for a 1 time job.
I would replace them. Get a bearing puller from Auto Zone, free rental there. Gently tap new bearings in with rubber mallet and old cams. Lube then freeze old bearings prior to installing.
When searching for what cam I wanted. Then reading about the torrington and INA inner cam bearings, I asked the dealer who was doing the work what they used? answer was INA"S or torringtons if requested.
So I called Andrews and talked to a Tech, he said they recommend the INA"s and they are in the Andrews cam install kit. He stated that they both where good bearings and both had + & - points, But the INA's had a very slight overall edge for the TC96 for bolt in cams, in the testing they have done.
I not pushing the INA's, I just like to know whats, whats. that is why I called them..
