Default Outer cam bearing replacment ?

I'm keeping my old cam plate for my TC 88 . And the new andrews tw 21's just came with the front ball bearing. When I removed the stock cams the cam for the roller bearing came out , with out using any force. So my ? Is sould the new cams fit very tight in to both bearings or just the ball bearing. The new cam will slide in to the outer roller bearing just like the the cams slide into the inter 148 bearings. The bike only has 15,000 on it.

Back around 2000 the TC was having issues with ball bearings versus roller bearings and I can't for the life of me which was being replaced under an old recall. I think the front roller bearing was replaced with ball bearing. Have you tried googling this information?

Yes I have . I found the freeze / heat method for changing them. The issues your talking about I believe was the inter roller bearings with the plastic cage in them.

I had the same thing happen to me on a 06 with 21,000 miles, the rear outer bearing fell out of the cam plate when I took it apart to do a cam swap. I posted the same question and had little response as I recall. I bought the new bearing from Harley as I didn't get one in the Andrew's kit. The new one was tighter when installing it.

The 88s used a roller bearing which had only the machined surface of the cam as an 'inner race'...

Such as it is, when removing the cams from the cam plate, it is only necessary to rotate the rear cam slightly if at all to get it to come out. The rear cam bearing is not a press fit, except for the outer race which must be 'pressed' into/out of the cam plate. Most of Harley press fits are actually deemed 'loose' fits.

As far as the Andrews kit coming with only the front bearing, there was another thread a few days ago somebody was asking the same question. (Could this be the same OP?) Anyway, I believe when that poster called Andrews, they were told that the roller bearing was proprietary and had to be purchased from Harley dealer.
