Default Carb Jetting

Thanks for looking in. I removed my stock carb to replace cracked breather hoses. As long as I had it off I took a peak to see what the jet sizes are. I bought the bike (2002 FXD) last fall and was told it had a complete Stage one on it. The a/c and V&H pipes were obvious but never liked the tune. A little decel pop and every once in a while coming off idle a carb fart. The jets in it right now are 45 and 190. Is that stock? should I go the next size up on the pilot jet? Acceleration is good as it is, not looking to drag race! Oh yea, I just drilled out the mixture screw and have read on how to tune there. Is that maybe all I need? Plugs so far have been very white.

Go with a 46 pilot and an N72D needle from Harley. It used to be on the early 90's FXD cop bikes. Adjust pilot as required. Start at 1.25 turns out. I'm assuming the carb is unadulterated (no Dynojet kit with a drilled out slide). If you want to throw more money at it, call Bobby Wood and get his KT-1 needle. Works great. More money though. Better yet, his full up carb modding is second to none.

I tryed everything to eliminate that occasional ' carb fart ' with my C.V carb, including changing all intake seals, twice. Never did!
This winter I replaced it with a Mikuni HSR 42, cured it completely .
