Don't know how many hours it took to install the BB kit, Cams and gear drive. It did cost $600 labor. I see this being done a lot cheaper than I paid (on this forum). However this forum is discussing topics. In the real world (4 different shops) $600 was the going rate in my area. When I first replied to this thread I had 200 miles on my BB. Now in just a short time, I have put 3500 miles on it. Cut it anyway you want, it was a great deal for me at $600 as it has been 100% trouble free, gained more power as I have broken it in , so to speak, and the gas milage has improved by a rediculous amount.

I to wanted the added torque and wasn't concerned about the HP side. I liked this article http://www.americanrider.com/output.cfm?id=1054045 and based my build up on it. The article tells you not to deviate from it but I did. I went with the Andrews 26G cam and I wanted the reliability of the gear drive. I used the Wiseco kit as stated in the article. I would not use Harley's cylinders and pistons as they are mass produced (Not that you can't get a good one) where as the Wiseco kit is a precision fit. I talked with two head porters that are well known to this forum and both liked my combo and did not recommend street porting (Repeat, STREET PORTING) of the heads. I really appreciated their honesty. I made 84 HP and 103 TQ. the Harley RT tuning accounted for 7 HP and 9 Tq. There are more powerful setups than mine but the numbers I ended up with are enough to do all I wanted my bike to do and more. MPG jumped from 42/43 to 48/52.

Harris -- so you're saying you did this build with the stock heads, no porting? Do you have the '06 heads or earlier ones? A torque build like this one is exactly what I'm after, but I'm not sure if I need to get anything done to my '03 heads.
I used my stock 02 heads that came on the bike. Nothing whatsoever was done to them. I was working against mother time or I would probably have had the street porting done even though I was told any improvement would be insignificant. I like both Dewey and BigBoyz. Both of these guys where very informitive and helpful. I thought initially I would have the heads done over the winter but the bike is running so good I'm afraid anything I do now might take away from the outstanding performance it has. You are welcome to take a ride on my bike to see if it has the type of performance you are looking for. I'm in Virginia. I'm heading for Colorado next week and I'm curious to see how it handles the Rockies. I'm confident I will be impressed there as I am here.
