Valve spring broke! WTF!

What would cause this! I recently had a stage 2 kit installed,with bigger cam [251] Had bike back after build for 3 days and babying my bike to break it in. Then this happend! Me thinks they didn't install performance springs. I get bike bacK tomorrow! Any input would be very helpful! thanks in advance....

Good question. Some guys run up to 650 lift with those springs...Not me but some guys...Might be more to the story when its opened up though..

Using CRANE springs in my 95 build, no issues!!!

There is always the idea that some time a part just breaks, even something brand new.

Yup i do agree sometime stuff just does break for no reason..But he just had the bike apart for cams and other things, so more might have gone on inside the motor..Possible its just a fluke, but maybe not.

Got my scoot back from shop today, according with tech, looks like just a faulty spring, everything else check out fine. He showed it to me and it looks like a clean break,no signs of adnormal wear! Didn't cost anything,but the down time from riding. Like ya say,chit happens! but damn,just don't expect it i guess.

Did they use adjustable pushrods? If so, they didn't have to get into the rocker boxes on your bike.

sounds more like a adjustable pushrod wasnt tightened enough and a valve spring took the blame,ever heard of a beehive breaking without bounceing a valve off a piston???
