Any of you guys running or heard D&D slip-ons. I was all set to order up a set of SE II's for my 05 RKC, when I happened into the local indy shop. The mechanic recommended the D&D's over the SE's. Well, what say you?
Same thing here...I just bought an 05 Ultra and was talking with a few of the service dept folks and one of them mentioned D&D was the way to go........he swore by them hands down. I have a call into D&D to talk with their techies as to just how loud they are and hope that I can find someone who has them.....
Note that this guy is one of the few wrenches I have trusted in the past and he's been right every time so far.....some value there perhaps......still stock at this point but will make a decision by the end of the week (my goal anyway)
I looked at the SE's, the folks at the parts counter pushed me to Hooker slip-ons (tunable), I went in the service dept and that is when D&D came up...
Keep us posted on what you hear.......hate buying things without trying them out first.....
I have a set of the D&D 2 1/2" slip-ons on my 2004 RoadKing now. I love the smaller diameter slashcut on these pipe. The slip-ons come with a removeable full length baffle. Stock, they sound everybit as good as the Vance and Hines ovals at half the price. I went to a true dual set-up with these slip-ons and man were they loud. I have put a little over 800 miles on these pipes without a hint of discoloration. To get the deeper and quieter sound, I wrapped the baffle half way on the exit end. The chrome is excellent and a heavy duty pipe. Bolted right up with no issues. I believe they have a 3 1/2" slip-on if you want to look more like stock.
I am experiencing no backfiring or decel popping. I did install the Cobra 2000fiR at the same time I installed the Kuryakyn big twin air cleaner. The D&D's were on previously. My experience with decel popping is a leak in either the intake manifold or where the exhaust bolts to the jugs. The first causes a lean condition. The second adds oxygen to the exhaust pipes so any unburnt fuel can ignite. I have none of the above. When installing the true duals I noticed the nuts that hold the flange of the exhaust to the jugs were no more than finger tight.
I know of at least three bikes in my immediate area with them. They sound and perform great. Take a look at PipeDADDY's dyno sheet in the Bagger Dyno thread to see his results.
They are not the same as the S/E slipons, either from a sound or performance perspective... If you try them, you will not be disappointed!!!
Yes. They are excellent slip ons. They sound awesome. They also gave me 98TQ with my setup. I got mine for 140 inc shipping from ebay. plus D&D is right down the street. If you gonna get slip-ons, they are the way to go!
