I Have my bike apart right now and am going to be splitting the case . I think I know the answer to this but Ill ask anyway. Can i have the cases bored now,and still use my 3 7/8 cylinders? I think that the case helps support the cylinder but im unsure. It would be nice to do the cases now.I dont want to have to take this apart again later. I have good cylinders and pistons for 3 7/8 . but later id like to go bigger. Does harleys 4" cylinders and the aftermarkt 4.125 cylinder require the case to be bored the same amount?
I have a friend who does machine work on my race car stuff, and he said he thought he could do it? why do you ask. Is there something special I should know?

OMG - DO NOT have a person bore your case that is not familar with HD case boring. Its very complicated but if the person clamps the case differently than recomended your bore will not be as expected. (heavy big paper weight results)
This is a REALLY big deal. Get a experienced shop to bore your cases.
If yuo want more details - I will happily accept. But trust me on this, once bored its bored. Huge $$$ to fix, easier to just replace it.
