05 FLH Vibration
OLD SCHOOL BIKER TRAMP) Im thinking its in the crankshaft.with all the problems im reading about this on these forems.Has anyone the same problem
Check the crank run-out on the output side as well. If the output side is also .003, you seem to be good. BUT... the two sides can have different run-outs.
Search around on these forums, they tell how to check this, OR have dealer check.
My crank DID twist... .0045 on cam side; .008 on output side. But I truly believe this crank runout thing is WAY over exaggerated by the internet and your vibration will turn out to be something else.
I have received the EXACT same treatment from HD dealer techs. It's MY bike, and I sure the hell knew exactly when the bike took a crap!
No warranty for me. The runout needs to be .012 for warranty, and THEN i just get another POS crank. No Thanks!
The bike is in 2.5 million pieces on the garage floor as we speak. Shipped the heads off Thursday, and will ship the cases out Tuesday. I am buying a VERY expensive crank ($1100)and having a Timken left side bearing installed. Also having ported; new cams; new size (106); etc since it is all apart anyway.
If I had to do it all over again??? I should have had my crank welded and trued, new rings and hone, and called it a day. But, NOW I WILL have a helluva bike, for sure.
