Default Anyone using octane boost?

I did a search of "octane boost" and found a bunch of threads re: pinging etc, with the recommendation of using an octane boost, but nothing I found mentions anyone actually using them.
I ride mostly in the back country, and more often than not can only get regular. My bike runs fine on super, but pings badly on reg. I'm considering carrying octane boost with me, but was interested in hearing from anyone else using it, and what experiences you've had.
I've also found several recipes for blending octane boost, and am considering that too. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Frank

On a trip to Alaska, I picked up 5 bottles on sale at the Harley dealer in Cheyenee, Wo. I used it the whole trip and I didn't notice any difference no matter what gas I was using.

Waste of money and time. Standing outside in a cold rain, tearing up a ten-dollar bill, will have a similar effect on performance. These products raise octane by tenths of a point, not whole points as some believe.

RXP is not an octane boost but it ensures all your fuel burns I use it some times, it actually makes a determinable (but not dramatic) difference

100% correct.....If the boost says it will raise your octane by 5 points, that means 87 will be 87.5, not 93.

As you have seen on the other threads, only blending your own octane booster from toluene or xylene will make a real difference. The way to make them portable is in the 33oz MSR fuel bottles available at any decent camping store. The other products on the market are nothing more than EFI or carb cleaners with boosters that won't foul O2 sensors or other emission control parts, thus legal for sale as octane boosters. My background is primarily in organic chemistry and I am a 31-year science professional.

This was discussed at length a while back, and was quite informative indeed.
FireTender, what were the particulars of the combination of the fluids to get the real stuff??

Just an update on my trial. I did buy a bottle of Lucas, and eventually used some when I was forced to buy a tank of 87 octane. There were three of us that needed it, my Deuce, son's Sporty and a KTM. All three of us noticed that there was no pinging, and no lugging when accelerating from lower RPMs. That was they whole point of using it - not some miracle mileage increase or sudden burst of power. All we really needed was to make bad gas work for a short period of time.
Anyway, I've since started blending my own and found that I can make it for about 1/3 the cost, and use it at half the rate of Lucas. I now carry a small bottle (6 oz) with me, and only use it what 91-92 octane is unavailible.
Thanks for all the thoughts.
