Hello to all, Just bought my first H/D Fatboy 05- Lava sunglo. Since I am overseas it won't be delivered till August so I was thinking of fixes and repairs, what if's, accessories and what not. A question came to mind about altitude. How does one set the mixer to adjust for the right altitude. I'm not sure if this is a valid question? If so, any information would help.
The fuel mix screw is for idle and just off idle. It does little for normal running ranges. You should be alright for altitude with the factory setting, as long as you don't do any modifications to the fuel system, ie, pipes, air cleaner, etc. If you start changing the breathing, you will need to rejet.
Your bike will come from the factory pretty lean, and set for sea level. If you increase altitude, all that will happen is it will run a little richer, as there will be less air in the mixture. As lean as these already are, a little richer won't hurt.
Actually, you can't jump a FatBoy high enough for the altitude to make any difference. Elevation, however, is a different matter. EFI and the CV carb make some adjustment for elevation changes, so usually you won't have much problem. Don't be afraid to change plugs if the bike does start to run poorly.
