Question on Super E

Question on Super E
Have a super e on my 96 convertible. It runs great when warmed up. Not so much as a hiccup. My issue is when starting it cold, it will not idle without the enricher. It does not matter how long I let it warm up for, the second I close it it sputters and dies. Now, if I let it warm up, ride it 50' down the road and close the enricher, it runs perfectly. No stumbles or anything. I can stop and start as many times as I want with the enricher closed, as long as the engine is still "warm". If I let it cool down, the issues arises again. i will admit to not knowing what jetting is in the bike as I just bought it and wanted to ask before tearing it down. I've worked on carbs before and have changed jets and air fuel mixtures plenty of times, but I've never dealt with this before. Any advice? Also I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question.

Could be an air/idle mixture screw adj, or just on the bitter edge of being too lean on the pilot jet.
Educated guestimation.

Thank you. I'll try playing around with the mixture a bit before I get into the carb to check out the jets and change if need be
