Default Uh-oh engine's running bad

Ok, I was riding home from work, bike's running good. 2000 HD 883C, all origional, 14500 miles. Got off the freeway and pulled into the gas station to fill up. Started the bike back up, and it's running like crap. It seems like it's running on 1 cylinder, and is making a heck of a lot of rattling noise. I replaced both plugs, checked for spark (both cylinders good for spark) still sounds like it's running on 1 cylinder.
The engine is making a bad rattling noise, so I checked the oil tank, it's circulating in the tank ( I know doesn't mean it's going through the engine). Engine did not lock up but will run, just runs badly and makes a horrible rattling noise. To me it sounds like it could have possibly bent a pushrod or broke a rocker, but without taking the rocker covers off I don't know. Any other suggestions? Thank you

It may have a collapsed lifter.

If this happenened after the fill up drain the tank and fill back with premium. How did the plugs look? If you are good about changing the oil and filter and taking care of her I would not see a pushrod or lifter issue. Bent rocker is rare unless you rapped her. Other issue is crap in the tank filter. Easy to pull as I remember - long time since I rebuilt a sport. If you pull the **** make sure you have the gaskets. If the screen is filled with **** you will probably want to pull the carb and blow out with air. Don't rebuild until you do this.

DONT START IT AGAIN!!!

A bad rattling noise = major issue. I agree with hillside. Valve train issue. Broken spring, bent push rod, or busted lifter. Thats why it feels like its running on one cylinder... because it is. If anything broken gets in the wrong place, you'll waste it. A tear down is in order. Sorry Bro.. Good news is... they are easy to work on.

Hillside you were correct. I took the rear cylinder head off and got down to the lifters and you could clearly see the exhaust lifter had collapsed. I have it out. Now my question is, can I just change that one, or do I have to do all of them. I know I have to replace a lot of gaskets and O-rings and so far just to replace the one and the gaskets it's not as expensive as I thought. Through one of the more popular parts company (Don't want to violate any advertising rules, but there's one next door to the big Harley dealer in Daytona) it's only a couple hundred bucks.
