Well the oil pump went south on my 2002 electra classic. The harley dealer here says two weeks to get a new one. Does anyone know a faster way to get one? I looked at e bay but do not really know what I need for sure. The part no harley gave me #26035-99B. They want 328.00 dollars for a stock pump, have found them on ebay for less but do I try to save on a oil pump? Hate to but then find out it is junk. Any help would be appreciated.
Crap I found the cause. One of the ear hooks I guess you would call it on the tenisioner in the rear broke off. When I did the inspection I guess I broke it. Did not see it so I put it back together and was going to ride it to the dealer as the truck was down but when I started it. Had no oil pressure and a bad sound you will never guess what went thru the pump. Just how dumb can one person be (kicking my own a$$) next time you bet I will look closer. Thanks for the replies. One expensive mistake.
Don't feel bad, your not the only person who has broken the rear tensioner while trying to inspect it. I was gently prying on one last year when I heard and felt it fail. The job went from being an inspection to a repair. I bet we aren't the only ones who have done this...
As KumaRide pointed out, a SE hybrid cam plate comes with a new late model oil pump and tensioners. I ordered one yesterday from Four rivers HD, It's on back order.
