Just got a "deal" on a set of what were supposed to be SE-204's. The seller had a ton of these and was mass shipping them. He accidently sent me the SE-203's, but did refund my money. Does anyone have the physical dimensions of a stock set of TC88 cams or the 203's? I thought that the SE cams were all stamped on the side of the inner lobe. These appear new, but are not stamped. They also mic the same dimensions for the intake and exhaust. If someone has or could mic a set it would be greatly appreciated. Just wanna make sure of what I have. Thanks
all the s.e.'s have the number stamped in the lobe side or end of the cam. If the don't they are stock take outs. I always ask for a picture of the stamp when ebaying. Mike
Like rmc said....they are stamped on the outer face of the rear lobe. I just happen to have mine out on the shop table doing a hydraulic tensioner upgrade and they are stamped "SEH 203".
I bet you got some stock take out's....BUT...you got your money back. I will be happy to mic mine first thing in the morning and give you the measurements.
BTW...these 203's have ran 44,188 miles on both dino and full synthetic oil (depends on how I feel that particular oil-change day) and neither the lobes or journals show any wear at all. They are in a Stage II full blown kit on an Ultra-Lehman trike conversion and I have pulled my wife and all the junk she can get in the trailer all over the lower 48 and Canada and have been well pleased......except for these stupid a!! tensioners I am now upgrading.
Thanks for the responses. I guess the "robbed" part was misleading, as I got my money back after having waited a few weeks for delivery, then seeing a "203" on the box, then questioning whether or not they were really SE cams or not. Seller was kp24620wilson, and he claims to have sold "over 40" of these. I'm sure now after havind read all the input that I have a set of stock take-outs. I just wonder how many people got taken by this, and will install these not knowing that they are simply replacing their cams with identical stockers. I looked up the specs, and the intake and exhaust vary slightly on the 203's, while the unstamped ones I have do not. They have identical lift. Again, thanks for the input and be warned against this guy in wisconsin selling SE cams for the tc88 engines.
Maybe the guys that got took and did not bother to check it out like you did will surely think their rides run a lot better. Kind of like when you wash and service your car....man, I swear it always runs better when it looks good and has a fresh oil change!
They can always just tell anybody they have 203's in there and nobody will ever know. I am glad you caught the scam early and got your money back. You're not the only one that has been "taken" by somebody off e-bay either on purpose or by accident.
we sell alot of parts/machine work on ebay(veetwin812),but you have to be real carefull, theres some ripoffs, and just some folks that dont know whats up
I have purchased a lot of stuff off e-bay....just perform due diligence on anything you buy. Over the years, they have weeded-out most of the unscrupulous sellers. The only time I really got ripped-off was buy a French Canadian and e-bay took him off-the-air pretty quickly. I still lost $125.00, but did learn a valuable lesson.
You can easily pay as much and even more than over-the-counter retail, but I like home shopping as opposed to going to hunt-up stuff and you save the sales tax in most cases.
I guess the old saying still applies...if it looks too good to be true...it probably is.
