Default Small exhaust leak with new slipon

I put some rush slipons on my heritage and I have been fighting with an exhaust leak where the slipons meet the head pipe. I got new clamps and cleaned the rough edges on the slipon and it did improve the leak, but its still there. I have tried different placement and really cranked that clamp down but just cant get it to go away.

Any tips or tricks I might try?

I've used it before with success.

Yep, HT silicone & make sure you haven't crimped the pipes. Slip-on should only slide right past the slot & then clamp on to torque spec. Hope it worked...

I had the same problem with a set of rush slip-ons. I used the high-temp silicone and it worked. I found there were at least two brands, so I picked the one that had the highest temp rating.

just finished up, gonna let it cure and hopefully got it plugged. i torqued to about 45lbs.

it didn’t look like I did any damage to the head pipe by torquing to tight previously

I got the permatex ultra copper.. says its o2 sensor safe, and good to 700F

Crank it to 65 ft/lbs and if you still can't get it to seal please call our tech guys.

Our mufflers use a thicker ga steel than stock and require more torque on the clamp to get a good seal.

Thanks for the help, I think I managed to get it stopped. Checked it this morning and I could no longer feel the puffs, I still need to do the smoke test.

I torqued the rear to 60lbs with no problems after reading a post saying 45-60lbs of torque. When I did the front my clamp decided to break apart before I hit 60lbs. So I ended up going to 45lbs on the front (luckily I had a spare clamp!). I assume there is no reason to go any tighter as long as the leak has been stopped.
