As much as I would love to take my bike to Scott at Hillside to get it running as it should, time and distance does not allow it...
Does anyone have a suggestion for a great tuner shop in Michigan that has the experience and will take the time to do a build and proper tune on my bagger?
The local HD shops do a great job at replacing parts but do not seem to know much outside of the screamin eagle universe.
Bishops performance over near Detroit. Probably best in the state. But they only do (last time I spoke with them) Direct Link tuning. I have a TTS and so have never used them, but if I were doing a build and was staying in MI, they are probably one of the best. It is incredibly hard to find a good tuner in MI, at least on the TTS. Good luck and let us know what you find.
There was a guy they called him Dyno Dan that worked for or next to Forest Cycle Works (1-810-239-6480)in the Flint area.He was suppost to be very good, but I don't know if he is still there.Give them a call.
Thanks guys! I believe I am now on the right track.
So what did you find out? I'm over my Lansing. I have the SEST and have found just one indy that will tune with it. I'm not real nuts about taking it to the HD Dealer for the tune.
MI is the Grand National Flat Track racing breeding ground. The Lapeer and Flint areas are especially "fertile" with racers and their tuners. Many/most also work on "civilian" motors to supplement their earnings. Ray C's Harley Davidson in Lapeer has been in business for 30+ years, has their own good mechanics, and, more importantly, knows who works on the pro's bikes. That'd be a good place to start.
Oh, and because you are in the Lansing area, (me too, Mason, MI), check out Hammer in Hand Custom Cycles in St. John's. They have my shovelhead top end right now. They create custom cycles, frame up. Grant, their motor builder, is awesome. And local. The guys there are REAL and great to deal with.
Noah at Grand Rapids Harley does a great job. On my 08 he took almost 6 hr and over 60 runs to get all the hills and valleys out of that and it ran great.
Im trying Brighton HD right now so will see what happens
