Default CV Carb Port and Polish

So i set out today to clean the CV carb from my 2006 XL1200C in an attempt solve the "CARB FART" issue i have been having. I had a thick black build up of carbon inside the throat of the carborator. After i disaaembled the carb i tried carb cleaner and such and it would cut it and after trying a few other things i was left scratching my head. I ended up grabbing my dremel and some polishing compund that I made a while back and i was able to removed the carbon. I also noted that the area i used it on came to a mirror finish. After seeing this I went ahead and did the entire throat of the carb and I was amazed by what I had accomplished. I had no plans on doing the intake manifold as I am aware the roughness creates turbulance the mixes the fuel air mixture better.

Can anyone tell me about the pros and cons of doing this? If this is a good things and you would like it done then let me know. I did this in about 2 hours.

looks great, I did this some years ago drove about 30 miles and bike wouldn't idle, drove it home at about 2000-2500 rpm removed and flushed out with carb cleaner seems that the little polishing crap was everywhere..........don't believe polishing carb intake will harm performance just don't know if it will improve performance any.

i blew the card out real good with some canned air with the canned air held upside down. I the ice cold liquid was able to go through every whole and i could see it blowing out even the smallest pathway. I'm hoping that the smoothness will help the air get through the carb quicker.

Doubt if you'll see a gain from the polished carb.
The "fart" you say, is more than likely, the need to up the pilot jet, and also remove the welch plug that masks the air/idle mixture screw, and set it at 3 turns out.
