Good luck; let us know how/what you find and the fix.
I had a vibration that I cured by changing the clutch hub bearing. The bearing 'felt' OK, too. Once you tear into it, you are going to spend some money regardless, swap that bearing out. Might not be THE culprit, but can be part of the vibration.
Please tell us what you find. I have the same kinda noise but been too lazy to look for it so far. Swapping lifters didn't work. I'm thinking, on mine, chain slap... but it whines like the chain is over tight, so I don't know..
I had terrible noises on my 07 Road King Classic coming from my lower case until I changed out my compensator. It was amazing the difference it made. Check yours out before spending any more money. I changed to the Screamin Eagle compensator from the original junk. See the pics of what I found in the HD forum https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...mpensator.html at the bottom of the page. My Road King has had no abuse & regular oil changes with premium oil and it still had the damages you see in the pics. The spline shaft had a 1/16 inch deep indention on all six teeth & the faces of all parts were galled. The se compensator fixed all the problems including rough starts, loud knocking when killing engine, knocking on all take-off's from stop or any lugging in any gear.
thanks for the tip about Skips, i may need him. also i think the compensator in my bike (02) is old type and there is no se upgrade. let me know if i am wrong. i have been thinking about replacing the compensator.

I am pretty sure that the SE compensator won't retrofit to the earlier models. From what I read, there are issues with the SE compensator and I wouldn't replace the original with one if there was an upgrade.
Your compensator will "rattle" if the springs have lost tension; it does happen. If you haven't replaced the compensator, it would be worthwhile and not too expensive to do.
Knocking problem found, repaired. It seems i missed it, it was crank. Rod and bearing pitted, looked like a roller siezed. I finally gave up and let local indie look at it. Darkhorse rebiult the crank, bored to 95, se flat tops. I intended to trade soon but with this major repair decided to make this old bike new and keep it. New tire, brakes, belt, pcIII tuner, windshield, lowered, glid pro, supertraps. Have been able to put 200 miles on it, looking forward to Daytona. Thanks again for everybody's help.
