Default Pushrod adjustment question

On the se tapered pushrods what's the difference between 2 1/2 turns and 3. My indie says he goes 3 turns instead. He didnt really give me a reason. But how much of a diff does it make. I did a search and the most reason given was to quiet things down. Just tryin to learn here. Thx

It is 1/2 a turn difference.

Really do the three turns. It is a bit quieter as far as the sewing machine sound.

The thread pitch on those pushrods is 24TPI. Without going through the math, to determine how many turns will set the pushrod .100" into the lifter travel (the mid point), you divide by 10. So, 2.4 turns will get you there. So, 2.4 turns = .042" per turn, which means that 3 turns would set the pushrod .126" into the lifter travel.

Setting the pushrod a little below the midpoint increases the lifter preload and, many times, will reduce valve train noise. There is still about .075" of lifter travel remaining which is plenty.

Comprende?
