I have what appears to be a slightly used Total Performance 107" engine. I have taken it apart and had the various components powder-coated. I am now ready to re-assemble it. I thought I would run a hone through the cylinders a few times to freshen it up a bit. I am replacing the rings with new ones. Any suggestions on grit / type of hone? Any hints?

can you still see the original hone? If there is no lip you can feel at the top of the cylinder with your figernail I would leave it alone rather than try a "home made" hone job. otherwise take it to a shop for professional hone. Just my 2 cents, I am sure others have opinions.........

MOST of the original hone is still present..! I just thought the rings would seat in a bit better if I were to hit it with a fine hone. Good idea on taking it to a pro shop. Sure couldn't hurt.
