On a ride today, Nona and I stopped to assist a young man who was having fuel?? issues. When we stopped, he had already used HOG to call for a wrecker. He said he had just gassed up and on hitting the road his scooter quit. He was riding a 2011 Street Glide with about 800 miles on it. The Scoot would start, but stayed in low idle and quit after a minute or so. Cranking the throttle had no effect. I pulled off the air cleaner and, sure enough, the butterfly on the throttle-body was shut. Twisting the throttle had no effect and the butterfly wasn't budging, even with a manual assist. I'm not sure if there is a sensor that holds the butterfly, but it didn't open freely. So, the scoot was acting as though the engine was constantly choked.
About that time the wrecker showed up, so we put things back together and rolled the bike up on the truck.
Anyone have any experience with like issues?? Cause??
Beside all the other sensors to the ECM to control the fuel delivery, which most late models have, there must now also be a little motor to open and close the throddle plate., controlled by the ECM.
I guess if I was a long distance traveler with a setup like that I would, maybe, keep a spare handy on the bike.
The other sensors mostly just give a check engine light and go open loop.
This will shut you down needing a special part.
Something else to worry about.
Maybe it all being "Delphi" its a AUTO common part. To hope for.
